Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet developed by Microsoft for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. It has been a very widely applied spreadsheet for these platforms, especially since version 5 in 1993, and it has replaced Lotus 1-2-3 as the industry standard for spreadsheets. Excel forms part of Microsoft Office.

The windows version of Macro Programming supported through VBA. VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) is a coded language developed in relation to Visual Basic that can only run through a host application (Excel, in our case).

VBA is basically designed from Visual Basic a mejor tool developed by Microsoft to design Object Oriented Applications to run individualy and works offline and online. VBA can used to design userform and other functions that you suppose you need to have in your excel spreadsheet or your need to ease functionality of excel. Programmer can write codes directly into the Visual Basic Editor (VBE). A common and easy way to use and generate VBA code is Macro Recording but it can be very limited and there are many lacks of using recorded macros. Certain features such as loop functions and screen prompts by their own properties, and some graphical display items, cannot be recorded, but must be entered into the VBA module directly by the programmer. Advanced users can employ user prompts to create an interactive program, or react to events such as sheets being loaded or changed.

Macro Recorded within Excel, code may not be compatible between Excel versions. Some code that is used in Excel 2007 cannot be used in Excel 2010. Making a Macro that changes the cell colors and making changes to other aspects of cells may not be backward compatible. Also recorded macro can not create loops, comaprision and conditional statement.

Visual Basic for Applications programs which are written to use the Automation interface of one application cannot be used to automate a different application, even if that application hosts the Visual Basic runtime, because the OLE Automation interfaces will be different. For example, a VBA program written to automate Microsoft Word cannot be used with a different word processor, even if that word processor hosts VBA.

Conversely, multiple applications can be automated from the one host by creating Application objects within the VBA code. References to the different libraries must be created within the VBA client before any of the methods, objects, etc. become available to use in the application. This is achieved through what is referred to as Early or Late Binding. These application objects create the OLE link to the application when they are first created. Commands to the different applications must be done explicitly through these application objects in order to work correctly.

VBA code written in MS Access can establish references to the other applications of Microsoft like Excel, Word and Outlook libraries; this allows creating an application that runs a query in Access (access queries are same as other database queries for results), exports the results to Excel, formats the text, and other functionalities of MS Office Suite.
